Lies & Truth

Truth: This is a big lie! Many others are constantly telling us we’re mistakes. Scientists say we were created by a cosmic explosion, and some of us have parents that told us they never meant to have us. Are we useless and pointless? NO! God created us, and we are His masterpiece. Because of this, no one is a mistake! You were planned well in advance, by God! No matter what others say, know this, you are His work of art!

The Bible says in Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV)  “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”.

Truth: This couldn’t be less true! Let’s say you made an awesome craft project. It’s great, and you can’t wait to try it out. Being that you made it, you want to use it and cherish it. God feels the same way about you, He made you and can’t wait to use you! God uses us all different ways, maybe by helping someone else out, or by befriending someone who doesn’t have a friend. You have an awesome purpose! Even if others don’t appreciate your efforts, you can bet God sure does!

The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Truth: That is completely false! BIG TIME! Again, here’s a example; suppose you have a dog, and you’re crazy about him! Say one day he left your yard and went out and got himself filthy! When he does come home, he is covered in mud, dirt and flies! You love him, so you immediately take him and give him a bath until he looks as good as new. That’s what God does for us, when we do wrong, we leave our “yard” and “get dirty”. When we come home and go to God in prayer, we ask him to so to speak, “give us a bath”, in other words, forgive our sins. No matter how dirty we are, because he loves us so much, he cleans us up.

The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 (NIV)  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Truth: Wrong again! WOW, these are some big lies! We pray to God, we ask Him for something, and we wait….and wait…..AND WAIT SOME MORE! Okay, what happened to my prayer? Was the line busy? Nope. God heard you. They why hasn’t the thing I asked for happened?! Here is the hard part to understand. God wants the best for us, and sometimes the things we want don’t happen. My Grandma died when I was six, and boy, did I ever pray that she would be healed from her sickness. She wasn’t healed. The world is full of sadness, and loss. The Bible tells us we will suffer these things. Sometimes God does something special, but sometimes he doesn’t. Know this, God always hears you and even if we don’t get what we ask for, it doesn’t mean He doesn’t care. Just trust His heart.

The Bible says in 1 John 5:14 (NIV) “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

Truth: Things get rough, and at times it seems like we can’t go on. Some even tell us to kill ourselves! Wait, look above at the previous truths You are created wonderfully, you have purpose, you are forgiven of your wrong, and God loves you so much! In fact, he’s crazy about you! Maybe you’re nuts about a movie star, and you have pictures of him (or her) on your bedroom wall. God’s even more nuts about you! He wants you to live a great and wholesome life! Don’t give up! God doesn’t give up on you! Keep pulling forward!

The Bible says in Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
